Ezekiel 16

Ezekiel 16 is one of my favorite chapters in the Bible!

I will always remember a woman of God telling me, "Cori, you need to realize where you came from before you can even begin to share what God has done in your life." When I read this chapter it helps to remind me of who I was, who He is, and the identity I now have in Jesus Christ!

Below are a few of the verses from the chapter (and some really cute pictures that I cannot take credit for!)

God's Love:

No eye pitied you, to do any of these things for you, to have compassion on you; but you were thrown out into the open field, when you yourself were loathed on the day you were born...

And when I passed by you and saw you struggling in your own blood, I said to you in your blood, 'Live!' yes, I said to you in your blood, 'Live!'

Then I washed you in water; yes I thoroughly was
hed off your blood, and I anointed you with oil.

Child of God:

Yes, I swore an oath to you and entered into covenant with you, and you became Mine, says the Lord GOD.

Thus you were adorned with gold and silver, and your clothing was of fine linen, silk, and embroidered cloth. You ate pastry of fine flour, honey, and oil. You were exceedingly beautiful, and succeeded to royalty.

Your fame went out among the nations because of your beauty, for it was perfect through My splendor which I had bestowed on you, says the Lord GOD.

Running Away:

But you trusted in your own beauty, played harlot because of your fame, and poured out your harlotry on everyone passing by who would have it.

'How degenerate is your heart!' says the Lord God, 'seeing you do all these things, the deeds of a brazen harlot'. . .

You are the opposite of other women in your harlotry, because no one solicited you to be a harlot . . .

For thus says the Lord God: I will deal with you as you have done, who despise the oath by breaking the covenant.

An Everlasting Covenant:

Nevertheless I will remember My covenant with you in the days of your youth, and I will establish an everlasting covenant with you.

I will establish My covenant with you. Then you shall know that I am the LORD.

Thank God for the fulfillment of the new covenant in the New Testament!

This is real love—not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins.
-1 John 4:10 (NLT)

Rejoice in the good news! Remember that Jesus taught under the old covenant, to show us that we could never do all that the law required. Now that we live under the new covenant, God expects us to accept by faith, that Jesus did it all for us, taking our sins away, not counting them against you and me, so that we can now receive new life.
